TGIF

Well, yesterday was shitty, I was sick. But today is FRIDAY. I finished the 2 orders I had, and only have 1 more left! I love workin for other people. :]

One of the paintings I did was for a little girl's bedroom and I put some cute little birdies in it. So today's post is dedicated to...Birdies!

That bottom left one makes me so happy! I love the little guys.

I finished the lamp I have been working on too, just need to string it up and you can expect pictures no later than next week of all of  yesterday's finished crafts!! Have a great weekend!

Projects from the past few months

I'm awful at blogging and having school and work. Hopefully I can get most of my blogging out of the way at work now.

This week has been eventful in the way of my crafting world. I finished a piece of embroidery I had been working on for months, and got commissioned to do a painting for one of my oldest friend's babygirl's room! I already am so excited, and love creating things for kids, so this will go so well!
Here's the Day of the Dead movie poster I made for my boyfriend.

Next embroidery project up: Some adorable little tea towels from this little pattern I picked up at Hobby Lobby. It will go so well with my new little house I move into in August!

Expect daily posts from now on! Cross my heart.

Take care!

Back for good

I know it's been a while, but being almost done with school and working really ties me down. I am back and fully inspired!
What's with this recent kick of inspiration you ask?
This store: Sew Crafty -Houston !!

My boyfriend and I took a little trip to Houston last weekend to see my family. As per my usual Houston trip I made my way down to a little district in the city called The Heights. They have this great vintage store Retropolis that I have to visit every time I'm down there. Well, this time there was a brand new store next door called Sew Crafty! I walked in and immediately was in awe. Immediately to my left was a wall of beautiful vintage inspired fabrics, and to my right were Amy Butler patterns. I was in love.
I had never been introduced to the idea of a craft lounge before. I was in shock, and almost brought to joyful tears at how perfect this place was. There was a table for Japanese imported fabric that had cupcakes on it, a table with little felt DIY animals, AN ENTIRE RACK of DMC floss (took forever to pry me away from all the pretty colors) and the icing on the cupcake....a Sublime Stitching section. I was in shock. Never had I seen Sublime Stitching in a craft store. Of course I bought 2 of the patterns I had my eye on as of late.
Not only did they have every craft notion, yarn, pattern I ever needed or wanted, they had created an amazing environment.
There was a kids coloring table in the middle of the store for your youngsters, and in the back (behind a beautiful wall of yarn) were project tables! I was so inspired by the idea of bringing a project in and crafting in this amazing, colorful, inspiring environment. There was an upstairs too, but I could tell the boyfriend was getting antsy and didn't think I would ever leave.
This amazing store offers classes and project-a-longs.

I do not only reccomend, but force you to go visit this inspiring establishment.
All it's done though is make me wish I lived in Houston again, and search furiously for similar places in the DFW area.
I am convinced the small, liberal arts town of Denton that I live in needs one. I have the perfect location for it too...if only I won the lottery...

Finally settling in

Things are finally calming down and getting back to normal after a crazy couple of weeks. Classes have started back up again and I'm all moved in and redecorated. I have a problem where I can't craft until everything else I need to do is done, and redecorating/reorganizing my room was definitely my first priority the past week.

So now-on to better things. I finally finished a piece I've been working on for a few weeks for a few of my friend's apartment. Definitely not what I was planning on doing originally, but I just started painting and this is what came out. It has a few touch up spots that still need to be gone over, but overall I like it a lot.

One of the other things I just started, it's WIP at the moment, is a birthday present for one of my best friends. She loves dinosaurs and it was only natural I paint her a cute little one for her birthday on Friday! I personally adore this, definitely one of the most precious things ever. Still have to add eyes, spots, and go over the outlines though.

I'll post more pictures of it when it's finished! Have a great week as always.

Inspired Mondays

This past weekend has been chalked full me being a social butterfly, so I haven't had a chance to take/upload any pictures of what I'm currently working on. I figured as a substitute I'd post some pictures of things that inspire me creatively.
First of all: I love color. It's probably my sole purpose for most of my art, I love wearing it, I love looking at it.

This last picture brings me to my next point, how much I adore vintage finds. My friend and I who are moving in together this fall were lucky enough to stumble upon an estate sale this weekend. Well, much to our pleasure we found a vintage 1950's tv console with beautiful wood for only $20! We had to buy it. We didn't care much if it worked (it does) because we kind of plan on using it for a table. Best find I've ever had. Here the beatuty is.
I cannot wait for it to be in our adorable little house! I hope everyone has a lovely week.

Crafting for the holidays

After much persuasion from a good friend, I finally have started my very own craft blog! Mostly this is a wonderful idea because I have a bad (or great depending on who you are) habit of crafting things and giving them away to friends, and never seeing them again. Well this is a place I'll be posting pictures of the things I create before I pawn them off on other people-a documentation of sorts.

Also, one of my New Years resolutions is to draw or paint a little something everyday and post it here, so I can see myself improving over the year. I'll probably be posting those weekly, instead of daily to save time.

To start off with here are some of the things I crafted for people for Christmas! Sorry about the quality coming up, I didn't think to take pictures with my actual camera, just my phone. I promise it will be the last time they are this quality!

A painting for my mom of asian inspired flowers. The little flowers have splashes of light  blue in the center that you can't really see from this picture. You know it was a good present, when it makes someone cry. :]
